About the Department

Department Duties

Pocahontas County Community Services assists residents with social service needs and with accessing appropriate resources and services. The department assists in the following ways:

  • Mental Health & Disability Supports
    For service needs and funding for persons with mental illness, intellectual disabilities, or other developmental disabilities.
  • I-START
    Provides prevention and intervention services to individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (IDD) and mental health needs through crisis response, training, consultation, and outreach.
  • Substance Abuse
    Funding for indigent persons needing detoxification.
  • Targeted Case Management
    Provides assessment, referral and coordination services for persons with disabilities.
